Những Bảo Tàng

Bảo Tàng Mỹ Thuật - Museum of Fine Arts
Vietnamese life, occasion, and history. Less of impression or abstraction of feeling. More to capture exact feelings of triumph, liberation, and celebration.
Nước Nguồn - The Source of Water. In Vietnamese, "Nước" translates to both water and nation. Thus, Hồ Chi Mình is the source of life to the nation.

There are not many male figures in the contemporary section.

Bảo Tàng Phụ Nữ Việt Nam - Women's Museum
It made me emotional seeing and
leaming about the many
Vietnamese women who supported
this Nation. I could not help but
think of my birth mother.

Bảo Tàng Dân Tộc Học
An extensive collection of the
54 ethic minority groups in
vietnam. It explains their origins;
ranging from Austronesia, China,
India, and Cambodia; their
customs (some strongly
patrilineal, some strongly
matrilineal); relationship
to theeir environments
(Swidden agriculture, hunting
and gathering); and the
mediums of passing down stories (wearing, batik, clothes
making, hemp macrame).
The ultimate bike packing of fishing traps.

The museum also boasts an impressive reconstruction of ethnic minority architecture.
Fully interactive one can explore the rooms of traditional housing.

Due to the highly socially
stratified aspectr of many of
these groups, many of the
homes are strictly parsed
into living quarters for
heads of houses, eldests,
newly weds, and widow(ers).
Some groups do not allow
male figures enter the
newlywed chamber, other
than the husband.
